External Co-President. Natalie is a fourth year and is currently pursuing two majors: Public Policy and Global Studies. She is from the suburbs of Chicago. She loves engaging in cross-cultural dialogues and learning about different health inequalities around the world. Her hobbies include talking long walks on the beach, drinking (virgin) piña coladas, and getting caught in the rain.

Internal Co-President. Richard is a Public Policy major in the College. He’s a Social Business person, and gets excited about applying public-private strategies to create social impact. Richard joined GlobeMed because he believes in the partnership model, which enables sustainable student engagement. Outside of GlobeMed, he’s involved with UChicago Fencing and Chicago Health Solutions.

Co-Director of Internal Development. Katharine Ross is a fourth year Pre-Med student majoring in Psychology. She dreams, as a future family medicine doctor, to someday provide a safe haven for women and children in abusive homes. Her future plans also include advocating for mental health care in underrepresented areas, and opening a homeless shelter that provides both mental health care and drug addiction rehabilitation.

Co-Director of ghU. Feven is a third year Public Policy major and Statistics minor. She was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, but she considers Chicago my second home. She loves to Zumba, play soccer and drink tea. She is interested in international development and health policy with a particular focus on the potential and shortcomings of foreign aid in developing countries.

Co-Director of ghU. Grace is a third year pre-med student majoring in economics from New York City. She joined GlobeMed hoping to learn about global and community health from multiple perspectives. She is particularly interested in the overlap between health, policy, and economics. When not studying, she enjoys watching cooking shows and animal videos, and exploring the city.

Co-Director of Global Partnerships. Amy is a third year Economics and Biology major. On-campus, Amy is involved with GlobeMed, The Blue Chips, and Pi Beta Phi. She enjoys creative writing and exploring coffee shops across the city.

Co-Director of Local Partnerships. Melis is a third year Biology major and Molecular Engineering minor. She's a very science-oriented person that loves thinking of new ways to improve contemporary methods for research and developing novel ideas. She also love animals, dancing, and her Globemed family! Her favorite ice cream flavors are cotton candy and cappuccino chip. She also has a hamster named Lovelace, or Lacey for short.

Communications Team. Whitney is a third year HIPS major. She is from Oak Forest, IL. She's also in Peer Health Exchange on campus. In her free time she likes to listen to new music, watch Teen Mom 2, Grey's Anatomy, Empire or Power. She also loves coffee and tea equally.

ghU Team. Cat is a second year Statistics major. She was born in Argentina but has lived in Seattle most of her life. She's currently obsessed with Star Trek (especially Next Generation). She also works at the circulation desk at the Reg.

Communications Team. Yolanda is a second year Biology and Psychology major. She is on the pre-med track and from California. Outside of GlobeMed, she is involved in other RSOs including Colleges Against Cancer, Axis, and China Care. She also really enjoys playing the violin and designing.

Communications Team. Gabby Koones is a third year at the College, planning on majoring in a psychology and philosophy. She is particularly interested in mental health and the intersection of environmental issues and health issues.

Local Partnerships Team. Will is a third year Chemistry and Math major. The best words he can share have to do with his motivation for joining up: “I didn’t want to be ignorant of challenges that communities face when they’re just blocks away. Part of GlobeMed is just pulling off blinders, and digging for an authentic understanding of unique public health challenges (Chicago and elsewhere): I just love that.”

Global Partnerships Team. Vivek is a second year in the College majoring in Public Policy. He is interested in community health and and chronic diseases, and how they relate to international health disparities. He joined GlobeMed to get involved with high impact, sustainable health solutions around the world. In his free time, Vivek enjoys eating food and exploring Chicago.

ghU Team. Kalina is a second year Biological Sciences and Economics major. She is on the pre-med track and is co-founder of Athena Ultraviolet, a company aimed at preventing food-borne illness through the use of ultraviolet light. She has a passion for global health and business and she also loves yoga!

Sarah is a fourth year Global Studies major who studies HIV prevention as it relates to women of color in the US and South Africa. She is affiliated with both the Chicago Center for HIV Elimination and NORC at the University of Chicago, where she collaborates on research that leverages social network mapping to increase knowledge of PrEP in gay and bisexual men.

Community Building Team. Rahul is a second year in the college majoring in Neuroscience on the pre-med track. Rahul is from Englewood Cliffs, NJ. In his free time, Rahul volunteers at the hospital, teaches classes about sexual health through Peer Health Exchange, and tutors middle school students in math.

Community Building Team. Isabel is a second year pre-med in the College. She is currently undecided about her major, but is particularly interested in the biology major. Isabel feels strongly about health equity across the world, and joined GlobeMed in order to develop this interest and make an impact.
